13 Moves of Wheel Chair Tai Chi (Moving)

Section 1

Commencing

Inhale as you initiate the commencing form by lifting the arms out from the sides and circling them around to the front. Exhale as you roll your hands down to your thighs in preparation to begin the first move called Parting the Wild Horses Mane.

Parting the Wild Horses Mane (Right)

Allow the left arm to float upward as the body turns left and the right arm sweeps across the thighs out deeply to your left side in order to generate a big sweeping turn back to the right. Keep the body upright and your head held high as if suspended from above.

Parting the Wild Horses Mane (Left)

Repeat the move on the opposite side by initiating a turn to the right and drive your left hand deeply to your right side and create a big sweeping turn back to the left.

Brush Knee and Push Right Hand

Turn left and cross face with the left arm as the right arm turns palm up. Pull the right hand to your ear and turn your intent and focus to the left as you push outward with your right hand while sweeping downward with your left. Lift the left arm and turn the palm up to begin the process of repeating the move on the opposite side. Bring the left hand to the ear, and turn your intent and focus to the right as your press and expand outward while sweeping and sinking downward.

Single Whip

Turn to the left with arms following the movement of the body, return back to the right with the left hand sweeping downward as the right hand gently forms a hook extended out to the right side. Swing the left arm upward and over the head to the right side and sink the wrist.

Transition to Hold Wheels

Begin a graceful series of “S” turns, first to the left, then to the right, and finally back to the center as you allow the hands to float down and settle on to the wheels with the left hand forward and the right hand back in preparation for a ninety degree turn to the left.

Grasp the Bird’s Tail (Right Side)

Turn to the left, as your hands release the wheels and allow the arms to float freely upward, and then swing them out to the right as you roll the left palm over and begin a turn back to the left drawing the arms downwards and outward before allowing the left hand to float into position pressing against the inside of the right wrist, push and expand outward separate the arms to shoulder width, and inhale as you draw the arms in towards your chest and press down. Exhale as you press and expand the arms outward.

Grasp the Bird’s Tail (Left Side)

Swing the arms to the left and roll the right palm up and pull both arms downward and back toward the right. Draw the right hand up and place it against the inside the left wrist. Expand outward while maintaining a circular form with the arms and then separate the hands outward and then pull them back inward as you inhale. Press down, and in a circular motion bring the hands back to chest height as you exhale and push outward. Allow the hands to relax and float downward to the top of the wheels. Roll forward about 2 feet.

Heaven and Earth (Right Side)

Lift arms up and to the left before swinging the body back to the right dropping the right hand to the right hip and bending the left arm towards the chest. Fold slightly left, and shoot the right hand upward while lowering the left arm. Unfold back towards center as you drive the right elbow outward and upward and swing the left palm down and out.

Heaven and Earth (Left Side)

Lower the right arm and lift the left arm to shoulder height on right side. Swing back to the left and drop the left hand to the hip as the right arm bends toward the chest. Fold slightly left and shoot the left hand upward, while lowering the right arm. Unfold back towards center as your drive the left elbow outward and upward as you swing the right palm down and out.

Fist Under Elbow (5:48)

Slight turn left as you lower the left arm to the hip and form a fist with the right hand as you bend the right arm towards the chest. Shoot the left hand upward over the top of the right forearm and slide the right fist under the left elbow. Turn the left palm vertical and sink the wrist downward.

Section 2

Transition to Hold Wheels

Turn to the right with the left arm blocking across the face and then turn to the left as the right arm blocks. separate and lower both hands to the wheels in preparation for a full 180 degree turn to the left.

Hide Hands Strike Fist

Make a full turn lift the arms straight out to the sides in a cutting motion palm up. Pull the left fist back to the abdomen turning upward.

White Crane Spreads Wings

slide the right palm under the left elbow and sweep in a big circle to the right as you lower the left palm outside the left hip. lift the palm overhead in White Crane Spreads Wings. Exhale, relax and sink downward.

Deflect, Parry, and Punch

Turn to the right as you lower your right palm and extend the left arm directly in front of the left shoulder palm up. Bend the right arm and slide the right hand across the chest as you turn left. Pull the left hand under, and in and around toward the abdomen as you extend the right arm. Roll the left arm out from the hip and upward toward the shoulder as you form a fist with the right hand and pull it back toward the left arm pit. Roll the right fist upward and outward as the left hand aligns with the right elbow. swing the left hand out and around to the front as you pull the right fist back to the right hip. Punch outward past the retreating left palm. Slide the left palm under the right elbow and extend both arms up and with a circular motion draw the arms back down, and out on to the top of the wheels.

Transition to Hold Wheels

Roll forward about two feet. And allow the arms to roll off the wheels upward and back to the chest, and in a circular motion press, downward, forward and outward.

Needle to the Bottom of the Ocean

Turn left as the right arm blocks and the left palm rolls up. Turn right as the left arm blocks and the right palm is drawn to the right ear the fingers pointing down. Drive the right hand down and out past the knees and then move Needle to the Bottom of the Ocean.

Flash Arms

Pull the left arm to the chest as the right arm rises. Push the left arm out in front as the right arm rolls upward over the forehead.

Transition to Hold Wheels

Turn right and bring the left hand toward the right elbow as the right arm descends, turn back to the left with left arm crossing the face and the right hand sweeping across the thighs and upward to the left elbow. Swing and reverse back to the right side and then turn back toward the center as the arms separate and lower to the wheels in preparation for a final turn to the left. Turn left to the original starting position.

Bend Bow to Shoot Tiger

Lift the arms straight out and slightly to the left as you turn the palms out and pull the hands downward to the right. Sweep across the thighs and form a fist with both hands out to the right side. Pull both fists inward and turn to the left with the right fist bending overhead and the left fist extending out to the left.

Closing Form

Open the fists and roll both palms forward and inward in a cutting motion palms up. Draw the hands into the abdomen and then slide them out to the sides before rolling them back to the front palms down. Roll the arms inward and downward as you exhale and let the hands sink down on top of the wheels.
