6 Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue)

Cultivate internal energy , Cleanse inner organs, achieve balance of Yin and Yang

6 Healing Sounds is a 1,500 year old Qigong healing practice and a traditional chinese medicine(TCM). It is a clinically proven exercise for improving your immune system, strengthening your inner organ’s and balancing your inner energy flow. Beneath is popular Beijing Version.

Fundamentals to consider :

  1. Commence at the beginning of each section
  2. Rest hands at Dan tian at end of each move.
  3. Place tongue against the roof of the mouth against upper front teeth to moisten mouth.
  4. Body Structure: Remember upright posture, string in the center of head.
  5. Internal: Loosen and Relax or “Song” the joints. consciously stretch joints from within. Hug the tree posture is good fundamental practice.
  6. Imagine soft music to maintain flowing rhythm
  7. Controlled Movement: Move like water, slow and smooth, feeling gentle resistance of body against dense air or water
  8. Remember diaphragmatic breathing, breath in (stomach inflate), breath out (stomach deflate.
  9. Remember intention, Cultivate internal energy (breath in), Cleanse the organs (breath out), and by combining both you achieve good health by balancing yin and yang harmoniously.

1. Xu (shuuu…) for Liver– Nourish liver energy and sooth anger. Perform 6x.

  1. Hold up both hands, back to back, and raise up to the lung,
  2. Make “shuuu” sound and open eyes wide, and then open hand to the side.
  3. Then putting palm in and press down
  4. Circle palm in front of lower abdomen,
  5. Repeat 1-4 6 times, then at the end open the hand to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press down

Tips-

  1. Energy comes for bottom of feet “toe” liver channel, inner leg up to the lung, then take the lung channel through the upper inner arm to the thumb,
  2. Keep eyes open, because eyes are the window to the liver.

2. Ke (khee…) for Heart– Strengthen heart energy and calm emotions. Perform 6x.

  1. Pull Hands up to the heart, palm facing up, fingers facing inward at the same pull energy flowing from the feet, big toe, inner leg, to sp21 or heart channel under the armpit, and ends with little finger which is end of the heart channel.
  2. Rotate inner arm up, palms facing out, arms to shoulder level, fingers facing the sides of head as you make “khee” sound with tongue touching bottom of mouth
  3. Bring tongue back to roof of the mouth to breath in, bring arms to parallel, lowering elbows, palms inward covering facing fingers upward as you press palms facing down moving arms toward the ground.
  4. . Repeat 6x then at the end open the arms to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press down

Tips-

  1. Involves 2 channels : spleen from the big toe, .

3. Hu (huuu…) for Spleen

  1. Pull Hands up to the heart, palm facing up, fingers facing inward at the same pull energy flowing from the feet,
  2. Rotate both hands the right palm up towards the right side of head, and left palm down with arms rounded fingers at waist fingers pointed towards navel as you make the “huuu” sound.
  3. Turn right arm in towards face in a spiral motion moving downward, while bringing left arm upward palm up to resting on beneath right hand.
  4. Rotate palms inward, and press palms facing down finger tips facing each other moving arms toward the ground.
  5. Repeat 1-5 opposite side
  6. Repeat 3x each side then at the end open the arms to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press down

Tips-

  1. Improve spleen energy and relieve worries.
  2. Like “heaven and earth” tai chi posture
  3. Right hand first
  4. Energy through 2 meridian channels: spleen and Heart.spleen channel from toe, to inner leg to heart channel to pinky

4. Sha (sha) for Lungs – Lung Smooth lung energy and drive away sadness

  1. lift up both hands, palm up towards stomach
  2. At chest level rotate palms out as you make the “sha” sound, then open palms and fingers up extending arm to the side
  3. Slowly lower arms, like a bird lowering its wings, palms facing down to the side as arms come down then rest on dan tian.
  4. Repeat 6x then at the end open the arms to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press down

Tips-

  1. Routine starts with liver channel from big toe, to inner leg to chest, and connects with lungs, to inner arm to the big thumb.
  2. Imagine big toe touch the floor, then energy goes from inner leg, then make the “sha” sound with palms facing forward then out to the side out of body then inhale.

5. Chui (tree) for Kidney– Fortify kidney energy and dispel fear. Perform 6x.

  1. Pull hands behind back, with back of hand, and massage kidney three times in an up and down motion.
  2. Pull hands out in front as you make the ” tree” sound, paying attention to middle finger then pull palms out to the side shoulder level and begin to lower arms while bending knees slightly then as arms approach side of body begin to straighten up.
  3. Circle palms towards navel and rest palms on dan tian.
  4. Repeat1-3 6x ,and at the end open the arms to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press down

Tips-

  1. Two meridians, start from bottom of feet to inner leg to kidney channel, to pericardium, then through middle of inner arm and finish with middle finger.

6. Xi (sheee) for Triple Energizer (San Jiao)- Unlock the Triple Energizer’s energy flow to prevent sickness.

  1. lift up both hands, palm up towards stomach
  2. At chest level rotate palms out as you make the “sheee” sound , then open palms and fingers up extending arms pushing high and out above your head to the sky.
  3. Pull palms down to crown of head, then continue downward to the back head, to the ear, fingers tips touching neck, to the shoulder, down to the rib, to the side, and all the way down toward the feet till the arms rest at the side and circle arms with palms resting on the dan tian.
  4. Repeat 1-3 6x and at the end open the arm to the side, release the inner arm to the finger, then the elbow drop down, palm turn facing up, then close palm around your head, then in front of your face, press downward.

Tips-

  1. Starts from kidney channel in bottom of the feet, go inner leg up and connect with pericardium channel, to middle finger, from 4rth finger back to the upper shoulder, and to the neck and ear, then eyebrow, then come back to the outside of leg to 4rth toe.
  2. Front of the torso is called the triple energizer (triple layer): upper, middle, and lower.
  3. pull up energy from bottom of the feet, turn the palm up and away up and high then pull palm down towards crown of the head, then pull down, from behind the ear, (the gall bladder channel) down the neck, to shoulder, to the rib, to the side of legs, then to the feet.
  4. The triple burner is :
  1. Shang Jiao, the “upper burner”, is located in the thoracic cavity, above the diaphragm and it includes Fei (lungs) and Xin (Heart). It is associated with respiration, and is said to behave as a “mist”.
  2. Zhong Jiao, the “middle burner”, is located in the abdominal cavity, including Wei (Stomach) and Pi (Spleen). It is associated with digestion, and is said to behave as a “foam”.
  3. Xia Jiao, the “lower burner”, is located in the lower abdominal cavity and pelvic cavity, below the bellybutton, and includes Gan (Liver), Xiao Chang (small intestine), Da Chang (large intestine), Shen (Kidneys) and Pang Guang (Bladder). It is associated with waste and elimination and is said to behave as a “swamp”.
